Hm, I looked up inclination to see how it relates to the feeling of clinging that I got when I read it there. Well, I saw it's not etymologically related. In typological terms this would show my Gemini setting, if you wish. And aren't we all essentially made of stardust, as Neil explained? (note: death and mistakes avoided and embraced as useful paradox) In real life action you kill alternatives. Only when you sit back you start wiping them clean as what ifs that could serve you as a corrector next time. Hm.

I feel many times.. it couldnt have been any other way.. whatever has happened... and also believe that i choose.. but i often feel.. i mean the thought suspiciously lurks in some corner in my mind.. that we can at best be aware of our inclinations.. and that we make the same type of choices and the same type of mistakes(if they must be so called)... since all action is fatal.. i mean .. inevitable.. irreversible.. because in acting and performing that action you wipe clean all the other what ifs.. the what if.. the zone of suspension is like a drug i feel... makes you feel safe...

Thought itself is preceded by chemical activity and many times action arises without thought. How do you explain away the hallucinations occurring among the psychotics , and these very thoughts and beliefs are cured with medicines. Delusions also are thoughts and beliefs , yet they get cured with medicines. Moods lead to differing behaviors and these can be manipulated by drugs. What about hormones ? Are these spiritual or are they given birth by you, i.e. your soul. Yet these hormones are responsible for much physical and psychological activity.

Did not god give man free will? Why would a god who created life and created man create man just to blindly follow a script? What is the purpose? As far as choice being preceded by chemical activity, I do not think that that is correct. I think all choice is preceded by "thought". First we sense something physical or we have an intuition, then we think, then like you say our body gets ready to act by changing our chemistry, and then and only then can we actually act.
How can we prove if we really have free will and that we are not merely programmed to follow a script? Being able to think/love is good enough proof for me. Can you be programmed to think/love? I do not think so.--

It is the organism which acts and reacts and it is a biological system , it is the life in it which makes it spiritual but still it is is the physicality of the organism which is at work whether it is the sense organs working or the motor parts. We could not even sense anything without the sense organs and cannot think without the brain , it has been a long process of evolution that we have reached this point and this process will keep on and supermen will eventually evolve. We do rise above our nature but the decision and the determination comes from inside this very biological organism and its physicality and I don't think that there is any spirituality involved unless you call noble feelings by that name.
