Re: Mind's Eye Re: Positive ideas education

I know what you mean. I know what you are saying, I do think that it is reasonable to do some of them online, i am not a specialist so I wouldn't know which one. To many people are into the quick and easy which would allow for cheating and fraud. There are a lot of diploma mills and they don't help.
Maybe a solution to the cheaters would be online courses and testing centers where exams can be taken.

The cost analysis for US universities includes the online courses, Alan.  Most have them.  then their are universities where most of the course work is online.  the diplomas aren't worth much in the job market.

Many universities are starting to create online coursework. This should relieve some of the cost as many of the courses can easily be completed in this manner. Some courses need to be completed in a university environment.
Times have changed  and so are the universities.

The youngest of our four (combined) children is entering his 5th year in college and once completed, will give my husband a 4/4 record for producing college graduates. No small feat with the associated costs.  My beef is that it should not take more than 4 years, and universities in the US seem to be designing majors so that completing them does take more than 4 years.  I think it is gouging.  Someone asked me the other day if there was anything I would bother to publicly protest anymore.  this would be it.  Bring back the promise/reality of a four year undergrad degree.  Cut out the unnecessary electives if you must. Stop making college degrees unaffordable and unattainable.

Don brought up college education the university I went to know has many of it's courses on line. Personally it is a positive way of pursuing your university degree, down side it takes a lot of focus.
