Re: Mind's Eye Re: how close are any of us to the 'deep green'?

With all consideration that there is over 17,000 km of dedicated bike paths. Hmm considering that I live in The Netherlands and creosote comes ftom a shrub found in a shrub in the SW VS  my gwad we would have have massive amounts of the stuff.  Concrete  comes mainly from gravel and heated limestone .. asphalt comes oil and gravel oil. We avoid using pesticudes as much as possible. We are starting to use a a special firm of Styrofoam for building  ramos for freeway overpasses (cheater and much lighter than sand)  the fuel saved from bike riding.  Making non rutted eco friendly bike paths.. mowing twice a year which for the most part is used for cattle feed or composted. It is not left to decompose naturally. Or are you talking abiutbthe ecological practices of new york?

The banana peel is still litter.

Isn't NYC known as the concrete jungle?  (",)

I have given this some thought.

"I have you in the past you didn't notice.  I don't drive anymore (what a relief,  I never realized that I would be greatful for not having to drive) now as I ride down the bike paths I see the litter both organic and inorganic,  both are a blight on the country side."

Which is the blight?  The obtrusive bike path laden with creosote and carcinogenic concrete with ample "weed" killing ingredients and lawn mower belching to keep it trim, or the banana peel?
