You state my exact thoughts. Which makes us weirdo conspiracy theorists in the eyes of most everyone else. My brother suggested I start reading the Economist regularly but I find I can barely stand it. Europe has such a low opinion of America. Most of the articles read like Chinese propaganda if not outright agitprop. Which is what CNN and most of the regular networks has become. Pure communist agitprop. "Mostly peaceful" my left nut. We are witnessing the dissolution of America. I wish I didn't believe that. These people celebrating our demise have no idea the pain that is coming. Absolutely none. The free money will run out but the jobs will still be gone. Governments will go bankrupt. Runaway inflation. Lying politicians promising "healing" and "rebuilding" and "social justice." I've never been more nervous in my life and it has NOTHING to do with covid. I can face hardship and trouble just fine but it is soooo disheartening to realize the vast majority of the American public doesn't recognize the real monster here. Too busy tilting at racist windmills.

There is a real chasm between the US and Continental Europe, and a new global formation (Quad, for instance) is still in the making. The pandemic has taken away much of their economic bases.
