I think that is what has been lost as is the sense of community.. Years ago I meet three people who left me thinking.. about why the jews were attacked leading into WW2 It seems like they always were separating themselves from the rest of the society or community ,, not unlike the islamist and the jewish community today.. another group that does this is the extreme wealthy separating themselves and not being part of the community asyou put it draining the resources
but when you look at it that is essentially the definition of the devil you gave
