I think John Locke had it about right in his Two Treatises on Government.
-Labor is the origin and justification for property. Contract or consent is the basis for government and fixes its limits. Behind both doctrines is personal freedom. The state of nature knows no law, but men are subject to moral law.
There are too many fingers in the pie. Too many power brokers, too many laws and not enough freedom. Rather then try to wreck what we have to "rebuild" I'd rather whittle away at what we DO have that is silly or outdated and in some cases smothering. So saith I.
