From what I read and of the drawings I examined the vessels were in the junk category,, though much larger and rigsy the junk is a very open ocean worthy craft.. they are very seaworthy especially if you know the craft. there is evidence of them going down the west coast of the Americas.
As for the migration of the human population National Geographic did a large genetic study (world wide) and with that study they tracked human migration .. a very large study..
Time span,, well migrations apparently went in stages compared to the life span of the earth itself it is a very short period of time.. in terms of the human population it was a very long time.. and the present human population killed off the Neanderthal.. humanoid population had had several starts before reaching our ???? human population.
