Mind's Eye Re: Are You A Human Being ?

I'll not be viewing any videos I'm afraid.  Not here at work, and not at home with my internet connection being so shit.

But yes these are man made truths. Truths never-the-less though huh?  As to sqaures in more than 1 dimensions, then truthfully these are called cubes, and 2 apples added to 2 oranges still means you have 4 pieces of fruit.

I find these kind of "truths" you quote to be man made "mathematical definitions" that allways have constaints to them. Example, a square is defined to have 4 equal lengths as long as it is on a flat plane surface. And 2+2=4 as long as we are talking about 2 of the same things, like for example apples. You are invited to see my video presentation about mathematics. What do numbers have to tell us? How can we listen to them? See YouTube video "Numbers Simplified". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK4ZBzwbYqY .

I've been reading some Thomas Hobbes lately and what he has to say on the nature of truth I think is valid here.

It is absoultly true that a square is made up of four lines of equal length.  Indeed it is also absolutly true that 2 added to 2 equals 4.

Of course thier are some objective truths out there.

I do not think that there is any objective truth at all. Just like beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, truth is in the mind of the beholder. People regard something as true if they trust and have faith or believe in the knowledge about that something. Because knowledge can never be complete because nobody is perfect, truth can never be complete. Because trust is subjective, truth is also subjective. Religion is a good example of this with the many truths floating around. Science is another example of this with the constant changing of knowledge.

Myself I think there are lots of differnt truths, both subjective and objective.  Problems arise though when we claim subjective truth as objective.  I guess it may be hard to sort which is which sometimes, but should we stop trying?

Truth is truth for all times... not yours or mine, local or universal ! No, no, there no scorn or smirk I have while I'm releasing the reply... The fact is that there isn't anybody who can offer something anywhere close to this rigorous criteria. And, nobody cares, about that poverty... of truth, in truth !

I just saw a response that seemed to equate the truth with crap... God bless.

And, too, I saw Allan go on the defense, perhaps because the doubts did creep in. Or, because he did not know what he was espousing from the start !

Yet, that is the only way forward. If one has not inched there, one has been nowhere.

But would that make it a universal truth or only your truth? (The
