Re: Mind's Eye What is really going on in America?

There in lies a serious problem. Personally I always enjoyed work and
took great pride in my work. The problem is how do we turn the total
ethics around,, looking at it we need to figure out how to turn ethics
away from being self orientated. Everyday we hear the great Opera
being sung "ME, ME, ME........." There are times you see tremendous
outpourings of generosity. Even there often times you see great the
great Opera showing up in excessive salaries to the upper management..
the great Opera is sung even among the poor

It is okay to have a nice house, and nice cloths, good
transportation.. Plato is right maybe we should limit income to a
maximum of 6 times the base wage. I do think work is important as it
provide something to do and idle mind is just as capable of figuring
out how how to get in trouble as it is figuring out how to do good.

When you look at it and the problem is self and that has to be
controlled from a spiritual plain and the desire has to come from
within. The hippie movement of free love started in that direction and
they soon turned to into some of the most selfish.

Part of the problem is the protestant work ethic ,, they need to be
teaching selflessness instead. Me I have spent many years doing
volunteer work much of it for free,, and had to beg for cigarettes and
a coke was a rare treat. my generosity was in truth abused, finally I
started doing volunteer work for a small stipend.

I think the real question should be how do we change the morality away
from selfishness that is so intensely ingrained by both words and
actions...
