Mind's Eye Re: Cats

I have always had furry "kids" from the time I was probably 3 years old. At least that is when I first remember them. An orange cat I loved to stroke and a Collie named Jeff. Over the years our family always had cats because us kids could unerringly find (walking home from school or wandering around the community) abandoned kittens. We.... actually my mother... hand fed many litters of tiny squeeking fur balls over the decades. We also had dogs, but they came to us in the usual way - our parents went out and got them for us.

I don't think I could go to sleep at night without a cat curled next to me. One is always near by. Some are very affectionate and want to be with or on you at all times. One would "yell" at me from the window whenever I was out working in the yard. At the moment we have 5. Of those there are three that ask for petting, looking in your face and meowing for head rubs, cheek scratches, tummy rubs, butt scratches. And purr happily for you to keep doing it forever!

One big boy does want to go out and patrol his territory and come in and snack and nap and go out again and come in again.

They all love to get into your chair and take possession if you get up for something.

We also have dogs who also ask for attention, petting, loving, cuddling.

I can't imagine life without them
