i did read all of it and figured out that it was hindu in tradition.. in 18 pages I found little to nothing mostly subject matter that is of little interest to me.. and little connection.. maybe I am more interested in the piratical aspects of spirituality..
My nephew married a hundi girl (I like Minoxie (sp)) so I took the time to read some of the text.. mainly started in the 1st book,, found it quite interesting to be honest and not insult any one the odd conclusion I reached was that they tied into one hell of a batch of kick-a-poo drink.. it seemed to be the result of drug use.. I am really anti drugs.. and feel that it diminishes the value of spiritual experiences..
Don't get me wrong I actually do understand a lot of what he has said.. and to me a lot of it is immaterial to living life. To me the objective of I spiritual life is to create a better life for all of humanity if strays from that objective what value is it.. ?? to discuss and contemplate do no harm has great value.. discussing the value and concept of the present can have great value but one must .. I do not want to a bitch session.. I get tired of people trying to sound enlightened yet the leave me wondering when I see them lining their pockets..

Allan, I have only glanced through a bit of the book. I see that the tradition it is based on is HIndu thought called Vedanta, which can be very difficult to understand without some previous reading of the easier parts of Hindu thought! Hindu thought can be very foreign and incomprehensible at first to the Western mind which has only been exposed to Western traditions of thought.--
The "forward" starting on page 3 just after the table of contents is a biography of Nisargadatta Maharaj, the saint whose teachings are in the book. This biography might be easier to understand and give a little background.
Nisargadatta Maharaj's teachings are presented in the form of a questioner (labeled Q) and Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj (labeled M). This is a typical way of presenting a set of spiritual ideas in Hindu sacred texts - having a questioner ask the holy person a series of questions with short answers from the saint.
I suggest that you not try to read 18 pages! First start with the biography part and see if that makes sense to you. Then read only one page at a time of the questions and answers and think about that for a week!! But it still may not be something that your soul can connect with. There are many ways and many paths for our souls to evolve toward the ideal of "do no harm." If a path is not speaking to your soul, then it's not for you!
