Meditation is a personal thing, it has slowed down due to epilepsy meds.
To me it is a quiet state of listening. (Not to my self either) Molly put it right a space between thoughts.
Try closing your eyes and look at or study what us there. Try it again at another time. When you keep returning the same place , it is a pretty good chance you are between thoughts.
