Mind's Eye Cats

I feed my cat dry food in a cereal dish that sits on a saucer. I fill the saucer with water so the ants don't get into the cereal dish. Over recent weeks I'm starting to be pretty certain my cat has worked out the benefits of this.
When I come home now his water dish is always spilt so that the water sits in a puddle that mostly surrounds his dry food dish. His water dish is quite large and heavy so he would have to purposely have a good go at knocking it around for water to be spilt from the bowl.
I'm impressed by this. I didn't realise cats were quite this smart.
