Re: Mind's Eye Re: mistaken origins

Honesty as a matter choice, hm. Sounds so well constructed. Just as comfortable as one belief.

i find being honest to others kind of easy.. because it is the most easiest option available... you cant be sorry for how you are.. or think... as for being honest to yourself.. is it possible to lie or reason to yourself or convince to yourself something quite other than the 'real' thing... i mean.. suppose there is somehting i dont want to do..but i should be doing it.. because a lot of shoulds govern our choices.. but i dont want to.. so i reason with myself to convince myself.. to soften the should... is it that i believe the reasons i give myself.. or am i just a coward... its hard to live with yourself being a coward.. although at moments you acknowledge you are one.. but then you rationalise it... so it doent matter i think.. because if you tell yourself something long enough.. you believe it...

In my opinion, it is difficult to lie to the people who you trust and who trust you and  people who you love and love you without inevitable negative consequences. You have to wear an uncomfortable ugly mask and remember which mask you wear towards whom and when and where. The longer the lie, the deeper the hole you dig for yourself. You have to look yourself in the mirror and feel shame. And you can instantly lose a lifetime built up trust when you are finally found out. On the other hand it is many times better to lie to people who you do not trust or to people who do not trust you. If you lie to yourself, then you do not trust yourself. That kind of lie is the easiest to see. It is difficult to trust someone when you see that they are lying to themselves. But it is easy to pity them. Apologizing for having lied to the people who you trust and whom you want to be trusted is one of the most relieving feelings you can feel. It is like finally getting out of an ever deepening hole and finally taking off a mask that has become to heavy to bare.
