Re: Mind's Eye Re: Political correctness

I wonder how it elevates the trivial to witch-hunt and prevents substantive argument.  Maxwell gets very stubborn on being asked to get in the car at the end of his walk and doesn't respond to being told my flat right foot is sore and I have had enough.  He is sensible enough to chase the car when I drive off and get in then.  He claims dogs would decide when a walk is over in a fair world.  I quote Gabby's Theorem at him to no avail.  He adds that people can be right and wrong at the same time as well as right or wrong.

PC isn't about being right or wrong - it's a rhetorical device to win on presentational appearance.  A typical example is a politician saying she doesn't know there has been a cover up on institutional sexual abuse - this amounts to abuse of victims who are clearly saying they were abused and the obvious corollary there must have been a cover up given nothing was done about most of it.  We do not yet have public approbation on this cruel language on victims, even though it is politically correct to say we must listen to victims.  The language mechanisms in this are complex.

Nice word Molly - must look it up!

Opposition has much to do with PC. If there are choices to be made, I like facilitators position, everyone is wrong. Or right, take your pick.

No. The decision in this case is your standard or mine and therefore a power thing. The power ring here is purposefully created.
