I've been cut up a lot of late. Couldn't write worth a damn. Not at all well. Getting old, needing third set of teeth, tummy ulcers (though not the h-pylori kind) now under treatment. Felt guilty over the arrest and conviction of Ugli Ray Terret (will die in jail) - I missed a chance to nail him over 30 years ago, though pinned some stuff on him (no Gabbs - I mean stuff he really did). Wouldn't have made that much difference if I'd got him on the paedophile offences he was committing, as he got treatment for this in jail for theft. It would just have delayed the time he got out to reoffend for a couple of years. Can't explain why it made me feel so bad - a sort of impotent rage against the intransigent establishment that took so long to change the law I guess. Some of the victims were at the school where Dad was headmaster, so I guess I took it all more personally than usual. Seems ludicrous many from back them were able to give evidence in the recent case and yet not closer to the events when I collected it (due to a change in corroboration law).
-- Just written a book chapter in a couple of hours, so may be back on form. So thanks to everyone for putting up with me. It helps to know you are out there. Gabby was helpful in letting me out of the rabbit hole. These guys helped too: All three are fierce creatures, the front two some species of water rat as you can see below.
