Mind's Eye Remembrance, Imagination or Dream

I stumble upon this page having a discussion that took place in 2010, while searching for my WP blog by my username,

Almost all through, an agent self is presumed to whom the remembrance occurs or by whom the imagination is caused.

Is it the case, however infrequent, when a dream occurs without it being caused by the person ? When one begins to envision a displayed sequence in the mind, without it having any connection to one's experience, read, heard, felt or perceived ?
