That state in which the self is known subjectively within oneself is the turiya-state of the organism , just like the sleep-state, the dream-state, the awake-state and the coma-state. Turiya-state can be achieved through the use of some drugs as well.
The Self is above all states and is known to be without attributes, once a soul attains to him he does not comes back to the lower self.
