Hello Archtas, hi Allan why don't you join this discussion, it would be a pleasure to know your take on this topic.

We are the living selves, the ahamkaras, and the Real Self is the basis of life itself, on realizing it there is no differentiation of I and you, mine and thine. But if we cherish the consciousness of "I AM " the lower self, it is applaudable because we are fragments of the Self, made in his image.Virtue matters a lot because just as laws of physics, biology, etc rule the world, laws of spirituality also rule us. What these laws might be I do not know but believe that kindness, generosity, etc. are some of them.On Sat 2 Feb, 2019, 2:33 PM Vam <atewari2007@gmail.com wrote:It is alright. However, I must point out there no basis for believing that truth has to be constrained within human logic. There is evidence galore of illogical matters in existence.
There are great debates recounted in the Upanishads, typically between Monists and those holding what we now know as the Buddhist position. The answer to your proposition is :
"Not so. There is the Self and there are selves that we perceive. The selves we perceive of ourself are reactive and conditioned forms of the same Self, which you regard as being now conscious and then unconscious. Altogether, there is a Self you sometimes perceive and at other times do not perceive. You are the gross, conditioned, reactive shadow of the OneSelf."
There is further evidence that the Self is conscious even in deep sleep. If it were not, we wouldn't wake up and share with another person, "Oh, I slept so soundly, blissfully, today." That sense of having been blissfully asleep is not just on account of physical rest but is of the form of the memory of one's experience in the deep sleep state.
