"Communism is wonderful." Ain't it though? Apparently it was Western reporters what caused the problem in the first place as soon as the ChiComs kicked out all our reporters the number of infected magically and drastically decreased. I'm sure those 7 incinerators running 24/7 are just burning trash and the 10s of thousands of people missing are just on vacation. I heard they bragged about opening their theaters back up and then unceremoniously closed them down a few days later. Probably just a shortage of pop corn. At some point there will need to be a reckoning with that government.
I've taken a couple weeks off work. Had already stocked up the freezers and could live isolated for a month if I had to as long as we don't lose electricity. I stay in touch with the neighbors through an app and the way different folks are dealing is fascinating. There's a significant minority of what I'll call 'informers' that take pride in reporting "non-social distancing" activity amongst our neighbors. "Flatten the curve! While I personally am still unclear on the true nature of this virus the fear it has brought to the world is very, very real. People are dangerous in the best of times. Pease everyone, be cautious. No matter what, for good or ill, the world has changed forever. I am deeply concerned.
I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of of Fran's blog. I miss his writing style and am really interested in his take on what is going on in his field. Right now our medical personnel are really on the front lines and deserve all the support we can give. Take care.

I am well and safe here, in part due to the elder one fiercely driving some lockdown sense into us.
in the country, things worsened somewhat because an illegal gathering of Muslim preachers...taking the latest figures to 1400 confirmed cases and 35 deaths. There were a couple of thousands congregated there, few of whom are dead, many are quarantined, and some still loose...the vector velocity is 16,000 per infected person !
Don, nice to read up your style again.
Yeah, the quarantine is a hugely restrictive experience though, thankfully, there is no loss of family income on account of work-from-home programs.
One curious point : the Wuhan virus reached the world...and did not arrive at Beijing or Shanghai. How come ? Beats logic and reason. Communism is wonderful.
Looking forward to getting poked again...

I'd hope the good people running DETROIT would have all those abandoned factories chugging out the respirators by now. Thank goodness for the NYTs and WaPo I will never run out of toilet paper.
