This really though is merely an explination of a process, and no way shows or proves that free will is a myth.
Think of the process of smelting metal. You are left with metal and slag. It is a mistake to equate the slag as being the same as metal. Yes without the process of metal smelting the slag would not exist, nor would the metal, but both are uniquie individual items with a 'life' seperate from each other.
Similarly the brain and the way it works give rise to consiouscness and the human will. It is a mistake to equate will as being the same as brain.
Are you claiming that you will has no power over other parts or products of the brain?

even my efforts to improve myself arise from the brain and so it is
the brain controlling itself. It may therefore be said that I am not
free but under the control of the brain and free will is a myth.
