Mind's Eye Re: Madness and Sanity

Bush (either) was a weasel. Money (or more broadly liquid assets)
were shifted from the many (the bottom 50% held 14%) to the few after
1980 - after Reagan/Thatcher/Bush the amount held by the bottom 50%
was down to 1%.- this was done through global arbitrage on wages,
explosions in CEO pay and a shift to mark to model valuations in the
financial system and continues through TARPS, QE and so on. We might
call the whole shebang 'Planet Ponzi'. The stories we hear are about
heroic individuals prospecting for oil - when the real story is one of
restricting supply to keep the price up, at least until after WW2.
When Barings Bank went bust we hear it was down to a lone rouge trader
in a bank with impeccable credentials - real story is they were bent
bastards in the 18th century (monopolies) and provided the loan which
allowed Argentina to be looted in 1824. Rigs is right that frauds do
unravel - but I suspect the underlying fraud is never eradicated and
throws up time and again. In the 18th century Barings were hoarding
cochineal, now JP Morgan and others are hoarding food, copper and
other commodities in exchange traded funds - the idea being to charge
us high prices. Russian 'grandmothers' given oil and gas shares end
up with shares in a worthless company because the oligarchs legally
steal the real assets through transfer pricing.
It has been argued that Britain gave up its Empire in order to retain
democracy in the UK. The US clearly replaced the empire on which the
sun never set and is perhaps in more danger of losing democracy than
we care to think. I'd have a bet it will all become clear as Africa
is re-colonised. I would say we can't look the truth in the face
because we were dragged up to believe in fair play, personal
integrity, democratic principles and the truth is these are just a
sham.
