Allan, you have hit the nail on the head precisely when you say "To me the objective of I spiritual life is to create a better life for all of humanity if strays from that objective what value is it.. ?? to discuss and contemplate do no harm has great value."
All the ideas we often talk about can be a lot of fun to think about and discuss. But when it comes down to what actually matters in life, "do no harm" is probably one of the best ideas on which to base one's life. It is a lot better than most of the things people base their life on and who pursue those dreams and ideas at the expense of other people or of the earth, or of other creatures.
