Re: Mind's Eye Re: Heaven & Hell -- awareness

RP, you seem to be one who simply eliminates from consideration anything that you believe has no scientific basis. However, in point of fact there are many things that scientists have simply not investigated because there is no one with an interest to study them. There is a difference between ideas that have been studied and found to be false and ideas which have simply not been studied.

I base my conclusions on my study of world religions as well as the many studies of what are sometimes called "near death experiences" and by others are called after death experiences. There is really a great deal of information available for those like myself who are interested in looking it up. When ideas or experiences are repeated in multiple cultures, different periods of history, different geographic regions, different religious traditions and different language groups, there is a strong suggestion that there is a valid basis behind these. This does not mean believing everything in any religion, but finding those elements that demonstrate a congruence with similar elements in other traditions.

The traditions that most influence my own perspectives are those which are based not on revelation but on experimentation. I also am engaged in an atheist vs religion forum and wrote a 2-page  description for that forum of one of those experimental traditions the Upanishadic (if you are interested   http://omg-nomg.blogspot.com/p/the-most-ancient-vedic-sacred-texts-of.html ).

Mardi , whatever you are saying about re-evaluation is conjecture and imagination without logical foundation , it is just a belief system based on faith in some schools of thought and has no scientific basis.
